Bridal: Deep-V Neck Wedding Dress Part 2
I got distracted by making the video last week, and I made a mistake on my pattern pieces. Do you see it? It's nothing major, but the piece for the center front panel (left side) shouldn't have a seam allowance along the center front where it is marked to cut on the fold. Nothing a pair of scissors can't fix. Anyhow, once I got that worked out I moved on to the next step: making a toile. I cut the bodice out of muslin and basted it together, the skirt was only cut to knee length even though the real thing will be floor length and have a train. With a circle skirt those parts just aren't necessary for fitting, so why bother.
No the dress isn't inside out, for fitting you sew with your seam allowances facing out to make it easy to take tucks out, or to move the seam entirely. I've already completed the first fitting for this dress with Caitlin, and next week I will be working on a video of transferring those changes to the pattern. Stay tuned!
